Welcome to my current students and to those who have yet to experience the health benefits of Yoga practice. Some of my students have been practicing with me for ten, twenty years! And loving it!
For those who have phoned and emailed after receiving my last newsletter and promised to restart their practice, following is the schedule for the next three months:

OSTEOPENIA/OSTEOPOROSIS
I attended a Long Island Yoga Association Workshop in Farmingdale with one of my students, Diane, on March 10th, given by Janine Ambroze, a Certified 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, a Registered Nurse, holding an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology. She gave an excellent rundown on this porous bone disease, leading to increased susceptibility to fractures, especially of the hip, spine and wrist.
One take-away of the workshop is POSTURE! We need to be aware of and work on proper posture, plus we learned what asanas are useful in forestalling this debilitating condition. Warrior pose, full wheel (which I practice with a balance ball), and other simple asanas to incorporate into your practice.
If you have been diagnosed with this condition, it would behoove you to start a Yoga practice, adjust your diet as needed and Stand Up Straight! A sunken chest, pulls everything forward, curves your spine, makes you sad!

For those new to meditation, a brief intro will get you started. We are a small dedicated group, who enjoy the benefits of group meditation. We share wholesome snacks while engaging in lively discourse.
